We Have Completed the Largest Solar Parking Facility in the Czech Republic

Installation of the largest solar carport system in the Czech Republic has been successfully completed at the DENSO plant in Liberec. This unique project, with an installed capacity exceeding 1.8 MWp, converts extensive parking areas into a modern source of clean energy. It provides a clear blueprint for other companies and commercial landowners on how to effectively unlock value from unused space without taking up greenfields.

The new solar installation shelters a total of 482 parking spaces. Employees' vehicles are protected from harsh weather and direct sun, while the rooftop photovoltaic system comprising 2 707 panels generates hundreds of MWh of green electricity annually directly for energy-intensive automotive component manufacturing.

Full Czech Turnkey Delivery During Ongoing Operations

As the complete EPC contractor, Carporio managed the entire process from in-house development and Czech fabrication of steel structures in Švihov u Klatov to final installation and commissioning. Furthermore, the complex implementation took place during full, uninterrupted operation of the DENSO plant.

The entire project was realized using an innovative on-site PPA model in partnership with investor ČEZ ESCO. This allowed the customer to gain cutting-edge technology and immediate energy savings without upfront capital expenditure, paying for the technology gradually through the green energy consumed.

Inspiration for Other Industrial Complexes and Commercial Properties

The DENSO Liberec project clearly demonstrates that large asphalt and concrete areas at factories, shopping centers, and logistics parks harbor immense, often untapped potential.

“Parking lots and industrial grounds represent an ideal space for clean energy production. Instead of building photovoltaics on arable land or dealing with roof load capacities, we transform already developed land into a multifunctional ecosystem. The company gains its own electricity, vehicle protection for employees or clients, and a major leap forward in meeting ESG goals,” notes Milan Páleníček, owner of Carporio, commenting on the significance of the project.
